Course Overview

The program is designed to equip the delegate with the initial knowledge, understanding, and skills required to perform the role of Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) safely and effectively. Participants will gain knowledge of safe Helicopter landings and take-offs, safe Helideck operations including the safety of all personnel; and Emergency Response Procedures for offshore Helidecks.

Course Objectives

The course involves theoretical and practical training, with demonstrations where necessary. The objectives of the Helideck Assistant Training are that delegates will be able to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Helicopter operation hazards

  • Helideck layout & Equipment

  • Helideck & Equipment checks

  • Meteorology

  • Helicopter Communications

  • Helicopter operations procedures

  • Recommended checklists for HDA’s

  • Helicopter loading / passengers & freight

  • Dangerous Goods & Airfreight

  • Helicopter safety & Emergency procedures

  • Helicopter identification

Delegate Pre-requisites

Candidates must be fit and able to complete all aspects of training. This course is physically demanding and candidates will be required to complete a medical declaration prior to course commencement besides being in possession of a current offshore medical certificate.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Participants must demonstrate the ability to read and write English
  • Participants are required to submit a valid form of identification. The following are acceptable forms of identification accepted.
    • National Identification Card
    • International Passport
    • Nigerian Armed Forces identification card
    • A photo Identification card issued in Nigeria by the Federal State, or Local Government, Ministries
    • Departments and Agencies
    • Driver’s License with a photo of the driver issued by FRSC

Additional Course Information

100% class attendance and full participation in all practical exercises are required for the issuance of the certificate
