This course is designed to equip delegates with the required knowledge and necessary skills to manage a fire emergency. Delegates will learn the basic principles of fire fighting with handheld fire extinguishers. The classroom sessions cover basic fire theory, extinguisher capabilities and limitations, extinguisher operation, application techniques and recharge and basic maintenance of extinguishers. Exercises on the fire ground include using various handheld extinguishers to fight class A & B fires.

Upon completion of this course delegates will be able to:
Successfully extinguish fires with the use of a fire extinguisher.
Successfully evacuate an installation on fire.
Apply the theory of the fire triangle in preventing fires at worksites.
Carry out a simple fire risk assessment on the premises.
Understand and use the principles of fire suppression.
Explain the meaning of flash point and auto ignition.
Understand the behavior of fire during its propagation.
Valid medical certificate
100% class attendance and full participation in all practical exercises are required for the issuance of the certificate
