The program is designed to equip the delegate with the initial knowledge, understanding, and skills required to perform the role of Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) safely and effectively. Participants will gain knowledge of safe Helicopter landings and take-offs, safe Helideck operations including the safety of all personnel; and Emergency Response Procedures for offshore Helidecks.
The course involves theoretical and practical training, with demonstrations where necessary. The objectives of the Helideck Assistant Training are that delegates will be able to carry out the following responsibilities:
Helicopter operation hazards
Helideck layout & Equipment
Helideck & Equipment checks
Meteorology
Helicopter Communications
Helicopter operations procedures
Recommended checklists for HDA’s
Helicopter loading / passengers & freight
Dangerous Goods & Airfreight
Helicopter safety & Emergency procedures
Helicopter identification
Candidates must be fit and able to complete all aspects of training. This course is physically demanding and candidates will be required to complete a medical declaration prior to course commencement besides being in possession of a current offshore medical certificate.
100% class attendance and full participation in all practical exercises are required for the issuance of the certificate
