Course Description
PROFICIENCY IN SURVIVAL CRAFT AND RESCUE BOATS (OTHER THAN FAST RESCUE BOATS)
SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES OF TRAINING
The course is designed to train personnel in the proper actions involved in taking command of, launching, and handling of a survival craft during an emergency evacuation/abandonment
This course aims to provide the training for candidates in PROFICIENCY IN SURVIVAL CRAFT AND RESCUE BOATS (OTHER THAN FAST RESCUE BOATS) in accordance with SECTION A-VI/2, PARAGRAPH 1.6 TABLE A-VI/2-1 of the STCW 2010 CONVENTION
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Participants must demonstrate ability to read and write English
Must have approved Sea going experience of not less than 6 months
Possession of Valid STCW “2010” Basic Mandatory Courses certificate.
NIMASA Medical Certificate of Fitness
Participants are required to submit a valid form of identification. The following are acceptable forms of identification accepted.
Photo Identification card issued in Nigeria by the Federal State, or Local Government, Ministries Departments and Agencies
Drivers License with photo of the driver issued by FRSC

Evacuation and recovery of survival craft and rescue boats
Action to take whn clear of the ship
Lifeboat engine and accessories
Rescue boat outboard engine
Handling survival craft and rescue boats in rough weather
Action to take when aboard a survival craft
Methods of helicopter rescue
Hypothermia
Radio Equipment
First Aid
Drills in launching and recovering boats
Drills in launching life raft
Drills in launching and recovering rescue boats
Practical exercises
CERTIFICATION
Successful participants will be issued certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and rescue Boats (Other Than Fast Rescue Boats) in accordance with Regulation VI/2 SECTION A-VI/2, PARAGRAPH 1.6 TABLE A-VI/2-1 of the STCW convention as amended.
100% class attendance and full participation in all practical exercises is required for the issuance of certificate.
