Course Overview

This is essential training for the professional marine industry.  It aims to provide all those attending with the practical skills and knowledge to comply with the mandatory requirements of the five modules of STCW 2010 basic training.

Course Structure

Oral questions and feedback answers will be used in the assessment process during module deliveries.  At the completion of the course, attendees will be required to undertake a written assessment test created against the course competencies.

Course Content

  • Elementary First Aid: DR ABC of medical emergencies, CPR, recovery, bleeding, hypothermia
  • Fire Prevention and Fire fighting: Risks of fire & prevention, use of fire fighting equipment, respond to emergencies, fight & extinguish fires
  • Personal Safety and social responsibilities: Emergency procedures, marine environment, safe working practices, orders and their relation to shipboard duties, human relationships on board ship.
  • Personal survival techniques: Preparation for sea survival, lifejackets, and liferafts, principles of survival, survival craft ailments, raft management, search, and rescue
  • Proficiency in Security Awareness

Delegate Pre-requisites

Candidates must be fit and able to complete all aspects of training. This course is physically demanding and candidates will be required to complete a medical declaration prior to course commencement besides being in possession of a current offshore medical certificate.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Participants must demonstrate the ability to read and write English
  • Participants are required to submit a valid form of identification. The following are acceptable forms of identification accepted.
    • National Identification Card
    • International Passport
    • Nigerian Armed Forces identification card
    • A photo Identification card issued in Nigeria by the Federal State, or Local Government, Ministries
    • Departments and Agencies
    • Driver’s License with a photo of the driver issued by FRSC

Additional Course Information
