Course Overview

Each module is designed to introduce delegates to the specific issues and regimes relevant to offshore installations and to equip them with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills for travelling to and from offshore installations by helicopter in a tropical environment.

Course Objectives

The course involves theoretical and practical training, with demonstrations where necessary. The objectives of the T-BOSIET are that delegates will be able to:

  • Identify the generic hazards which are specific to offshore oil and gas installations, potential risks associated with those hazards, and how controls are put in place to eliminate or reduce risks.
  • Identify key offshore related safety regulations and explain the basic safety management concepts.
  • Demonstrate that they can use the safety equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter emergencies with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
  • Demonstrate sea survival and first aid techniques.
  • Demonstrate that they can effectively use basic firefighting equipment, and practice self-rescue techniques in low visibility situations, to include smoke-filled areas.

The Course covers these 4 modules: 

  • The safety Induction
  • Helicopter Underwater Emergency training
  • Sea Survival
  • Fire Fighting

 

Delegate Pre-requisites

Candidates must be fit and able to complete all aspects of training. This course is physically demanding and candidates will be required to complete a medical declaration prior to course commencement besides being in possession of a current offshore medical certificate.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Participants must demonstrate the ability to read and write English
  • Participants are required to submit a valid form of identification. The following are acceptable forms of identification accepted.
    • National Identification Card
    • International Passport
    • Nigerian Armed Forces identification card
    • A photo Identification card issued in Nigeria by the Federal State, or Local Government, Ministries
    • Departments and Agencies
    • Driver’s License with a photo of the driver issued by FRSC

Additional Course Information

100% class attendance and full participation in all practical exercises are required for the issuance of the certificate
