OPITO FOET – Further Offshore Emergency Training

Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) is the OPITO-approved refresher certification for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry. Our OPITO FOET product provides learners with the opportunity to practice and demonstrate emergency response skills which are not possible to practice during drills, exercises, and emergency offshore training.

OPITO FOET – Further Offshore Emergency Training is the industry-standard refresher certification for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry. This OPITO-approved FOET product provides learners with the opportunity to practice and demonstrate emergency response skills which are not possible to practice during drills, exercises, and emergency offshore training.

Our OPITO FOET training covers critical safety topics including helicopter safety, sea survival, fire fighting, and emergency first aid. Learners receive hands-on training using state-of-the-art simulation equipment at our Deep Water Simulation Training Center (DSTC) in Port Harcourt.

Product Aims

The OPITO FOET programme is designed to meet the further offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry. Learners have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate emergency response skills which are not possible to practice during drills, exercises and emergency offshore training.

The product aims to:

• Refresh and reinforce emergency response skills – Providing learners with the opportunity to practice critical emergency procedures.
• Meet recertification requirements – Ensuring learners maintain valid offshore safety certification.
• Build confidence in emergency situations – Through realistic simulations and hands-on practice.

Product Objectives

The objectives of the OPITO FOET are that learners will be able to:

• Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
• Demonstrate that they can use basic firefighting equipment effectively, and use self-rescue techniques in low visibility and completely obscured visibility situations e.g. smoke filled areas.
• Demonstrate that they can perform basic first aid.
• Demonstrate sea survival techniques including life raft boarding and emergency signaling.
• Use the Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) during helicopter escape (if applicable).
• Work effectively as part of a team during offshore emergencies.

Recertification
